The trail crosses hills and valleys before sharply descending into Karanga Valley (Karanga River), the last water point. After lunch, continue the ascent to Karanga Camp.  Distance: 6 km/3.7 miles  Trekking Time: 6-7 hours  Habitat: Arctic Begin the summit push at midnight, the most challenging part of the trek. Ascend in darkness, with short breaks, facing wind and cold weather. Reach Stella Point (18,900 ft/5,730m) at sunrise. Another hour to Uhuru Peak, Africa’s highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro. Spend a short time on the summit, then descend to Barafu Camp in about 3 hours. Rest briefly and continue to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.
